This vintage soaring bird in flight clip is quite unusual. I'm not sure what it was originally meant to be, although my guess would be an earring, but it works as a brooch clip. It could be used on a pocket or somewhere it could be clipped like a lapel (see pictures). It is marked on the back "Hand Made Sterling”. The clip has "PAT APLD. FO” (Patent Applied for) stamped on it. It has very clean and flowing lines with wings fully extended. It is artisan hand crafted from one solid piece of sterling silver with an opening for the eye and indentations for feathers on the wings and tail. It has a very sophisticated appearance with modern Abstract styling and shape.

It measures just over 1 5/8 inches in length from one wing tip to the other wing tip. It is just under 1 inch from the tail to the front of the wing. It weighs .2 ounces on my postage scale, which converts to 5.7 grams. This sterling bird is in very good, original and unpolished condition with a lovely patina beginning to form. I did not polish this because many people prefer the old patina.

This clip would be perfect for your favorite bird watcher or for you. Fun little stocking stuffer for someone studying Ornithology. It would look great on your favorite dress, jacket lapel or in the v-neck of a sweater.
