Here Is Some Information About The Irish Five Pence

The five pence coin, like the one shilling coin featured a bull on one side and the Irish harp on the other
It was first issued in 1971 when Irish currency was decimalised and minted until 2000. It had the same value as the one shilling coin
and the two were circulated together until a smaller version of the five pence was introduced.

The coin was made of cupronickel which consisted of 75% copper and 25% nickel
The original five pence had a diameter of 23.6mm and weighed 5.65 grams.
In 1992 a smaller version was introduced, it was 18.5mm in diameter and weighed 3.25 grams,
the direction of the bull was change and also the place of the denomination changed
It was worth 1/20 of a pound and was removed from circulation in 2002 when the euro was introduced
