This authentic fully hallmarked modernistic and bold Sterling Silver Amber Brooch is marked on the back 925, PJB (the artist's signature) and the Assay Mark for Poland (the head). The Amber Gem is a lovely golden yellow orange color with lovely and interesting inclusions. The color reminds me of Honey, the pictures just don't show the glow that comes from it. It is enveloped by smooth flowing Sterling Silver. The brooch is quite 3 dimensional, there are cut outs that allow the space below to show through (the black areas). It is a unique art creation as well as a fine piece of jewelry.

Amber is an organic gemstone, it is the fossilized resin from prehistoric trees and is millions of years old. It is thought to strengthen memory, to relieve stress and to allow the body to heal itself and to transmute negative energy to positive energy. It also represents the bond of eternal love.

The brooch measures approximately 1 3/4 inches long and 1 1/4 inches wide. It weighs .6 ounces on my postage scale, which converts to 17.01 grams. The pin on the back works just fine and has a safety catch closure. Although there is no bale for a pendant, as you can see by the pictures it can easily be worn as a pendant if desired by putting the chain through the top of the clasp. It will hang with the points facing downward. The brooch is in excellent condition. There is a tiny flaw on one of the cut lines in the Sterling, but it is original to the piece. You don't see it without the magnification.
