This is the rare GREAT AMERICAN PLACES MEDAL & POSTAL COVER # 4 NEW YORK This medal was minted by the Osborne Coinage Company in 1973, 39mm Sterling Silver (.925 fine) 31 grams

Number 4 of 15, each medal is stamped "Sterling" on its reeded edge and is hallmarked with a (P) for proof.

Westport Collectors Society in 1973 issued a Set of (15) sterling silver medals, each attached to a First Day of Issue commemorative postal cover, and addressed to subscriber.

It is still sealed in its original packaging.

Mintages were reduced during 1979 and 1981 when the Hunt brothers tried to corner the silver market, driving silver to $50.00 an ounce, and many silver items were melted.

This is a must for any Silver Medal collector.
