Double Rope Design

This is a vintage pair of Sterling Silver earrings that were made in Taxco, Mexico. Both the earrings are stamped on the back with Taxco Mexico and 925 in a circle with CRC in the center. Below the circles is the hallmark TR-63. According to “The Little Book of Mexican Silver Trade & Hallmarks” by Bille Hougart this mark is associated with Laton.

The earrings measure approximately 3/4 of an inch in diameter. They are two tone in color, brass or gold and silver. They have a double rope design in the brass or gold color that surrounds a center silver cabochon ball. Because they are handmade they are different from each other slightly in color and design.

These could use a good polishing, I have left the old patina since many people prefer them that way. One earring is flawed and missing a small piece of the rope design (see arrow in picture). You don't notice it without magnification and you don't see the difference between the earrings when they are being worn. They weigh .3 ounces on my postage scale, which converts to 8.50 grams.

These would make a great addition to your vintage Mexican jewelry collection, perfect for everyday wear with your favorite pair of jeans.
