PRESBYTERIAN REVIEW, Columbia, SC: An Association of Ministers, 1858-1861. First
editions of five volumes bound together as one, rebound full leather hardcover
w/original title to spine, 8vo (8.250 x5.5?), Very Good/n.a., approx. 800
pages. Rebound, no initial title page
(was not a book), hinges are re-enforced with Lineco satin finishing tape, damp-staining
at the head fore edge corners of the first 40 pages only (approx.1?x1?), taping and staining to first page of Vol.XI only, lightly
age-toned, remarkably foxing free.
Being
a sammelband of: Vol. XI ? no.1, Vol. XII -no.2, Vol. XII ? no.4, Vol.XIII ?
no.4, and Vol. XIV ? no.1. Bound together
for unknown reasons, presumably a gathering regarding the lead up to and early
years of the American Civil War.
Predominantly addresses theological
issues with a good number of articles on: Indians, slavery (both for and
against, secession, loyalty to the southern cause, the John Brown raid, and a
remarkable article on Hinton Rowan Helpers book The Impending Crisis.
