I have several vintage matchbooks. Most are in good condition. Some have never been used, and others have a few matches missing. I found no others like them to compare prices. I don’t collect them and don’t know if my prices are high, low, or right on target. Some are from restaurants, others are from hotels and motels. All of them are US locations. I don’t know if some of the places are even in business any more because I couldn’t find the business in a Google search either.
If you collect matchbooks, or know how they should be priced, I will be delighted to hear from you.

I used to collect matchbooks and had a very large collection at one time. I have sold off most of them. The matches themselves are not important to a collector. It’s actually the match cover that is collected.
The more unique and unusual the better. I’ve had some very unique shaped ones, and the real beauties are from foreign countries.
Just like Barns said, mail them first class in a padded envelope.
If you have a lot of them, and most of them are commons, then group them together in a lot.

i’ve shipped them 1st class in padded envelopes without any problems or repercussions. You should determine the price by age, condition, and availability. Also take into account what others are asking. I would take the middle of the road price, throw in shipping free and be rid of them.

I am going to go out on a limb here, but perhaps someone else with more knowledge on the subject will jump in here…would the unused matches not have to be removed or at least have the heads removed if shipping these, especially beyond your domestic borders? Shipping anywhere via AIRMAIL would be prohibited but domestic non air transport is possible, I believe.

Thank you Barns and Littleroses. I have sold some that I didn’t think would actually sell, and I did ship them in padded envelopes. I have some that I think are really nice, and they haven’t sold, so I was wondering if the prices were way off.
I’ll let the buyer remove the matches if they want to. I don’t want to risk tearing the covers.
