Without photos’ it’s anyones guess,
but from the “sound” of your post,
they’re aluminum drinking glasses,
from the late 1950s early 1960s.
The dishes are possibly hammered aluminum.
These were big in the 50s and 60s also.

Pictures?? The hammered dish may be just that, hand hammered. Pictures will help.

As Queenmum said they sound like aluminum items. The glasses are probably from the 1950s-1960s. The hammered aluminum trays were very big in the 1940s and 1950s. Condition is a big deal, they dent and scratch really easily.

Photos would be nice. :-)

If you had a picture, that would be great. From your written description it could be hammered aluminum. Are the glasses ornate with flowers coming off of them or do they look like someone carefully made a uniform design with a ball-peen hammer?
