Any american pickers fans?

I heart the duo — Frank and Mike! You can tell that they are really enjoying their job, sometimes waaay to much :D

Any fans? I heard History channel is bringing them back for second season. Cool! I’m fascinated with the people they come accross with as well.

Im a big fan and would love to be riding right along with them. I consider myself a picker, except I go and find my items in thrift shops and yard sales or from items friends or family dont want, and sometimes from things left out for trash day. :) Love Love Love the show! Love the guys!

I have never seen that show. I will see if I can find it to watch. Sounds very interesting. I have many things I keep because I know I will not get what it is actually worth.

Morning everyone…!

It amazes me that some collectors have their valuable porcelain signs out and exposed to the elements. For instance, the Citizen Porcelain Gas sign, if im not mistaken, was worth $950 and they bought it for $250. That sign was exposed to rain, heat etc.

This show posted 3.7 million viewer and is considered History channels new hit series. These guys are getting paid to do something they love! How cool is that!

Another show, that is being shown back to back with AP is Pawn Stars. The store is 15 minutes away from where I live here in crazy Las Vegas. Oftentimes, I dont agree with the offers they give to sellers. I understand that they have to make a profit but they have contacts that are avid collectors. I might check out the store this weekend, and I hope I will not see Chumlee in the store. He’s trying so hard to be funny :/

[URL removed] What do you think AP show’s effect do to the collectibles market?

[URL removed] I agree, there’s gotta be drama, it is very well edited. Esp. the part when seller doesn’t wanna get rid of anything and the duo is itching to buy. Then boom! They broke the ice and the van is full! :)

[URL removed] Yes they will return for second season :)

Save the [URL removed] I think i’m a “semi-picker”. I initially was collecting vintage designer purses and clothes. Then I found myself braking for yard sales. Hopefully i’ll gain more sales here at Bonanzle, that will fuel my shopping addiction even more! LOL

I’ve only seen a couple of episodes. I am not real sure how I feel about it. I think that like Antiques Roadshow it could make it much harder for those of us who are looking for wholesale antiques & collectibles to find product. Everyone wants full value for the things they want to sell and end up keeping them because they’re afraid someone will rip them off.

Its interesting but I’m just a little afraid of what it might do to the collectibles market.

I think they spend too much time talking about irrelevant things and not enough
time showing stuff which is the reason I would watch it.

I love that show! Those 2 guys are great! And, their knowledge is incredible [almost encyclopedic]! If I weren’t homebound most of the time—I’d be roving the plains and mountains looking for that big picking yard in the skies! [oh, that would be in my afterlife]. Actually, I’d just be driving around looking for some places like they hit…And a comment about the above comment—it’s a TV show—they gotta have some drama! Well, I still love it….may it go on for years! It may be bad for us down the line—people that see it will assume their stuff is uber valuble—and price us out! Yikes! Take the D%$&* show off!

Yes!!!! Just started watching the show a short while ago. Just love it. They are quite a pair and some of the stuff they find OMG!!! Makes an old woman’s mouth water!!!
I do agree with a couple of you though. We sit and watch and think anyone who does watch this that when they go to sell items at yard, garage or estate sales they will want an extremely high price on the items. Just like we are always hearing “that’s what it goes for on ebay” Now it’ll be “that’s what it goes for on American Pickers”. But I do enjoy the show and learning what alot of different items are.

I enjoy the show and like the guys in it, but hate that it is a tv show. It’s just bad for business :(

In this area, we see more than enough people who have yard / estate sales and routinely anchor printouts from ebxx to them. Prices are non-negotiable, and they truly believe that if an ebxx seller lists a pile of straw for $45 (even though it is unsold there for months and months!), it is worth $45.

I shudder to think what AP is doing to the price of crushed old oil cans and rusted out bicycles! You know how it is—everybody thinks they’re sitting on a pile of gold. I guess I’ll find out when yard sale season blooms here in a few weeks.

I love the show. And here I thought I was the only one who knew about it . Some of the things they find amazes me as it would never occur to me that that rusted out can is worth actual money. And no way would I crawl around in some of the places they find. Think of snakes and such. I do love the show and watch whever I can. I like Pawn Stars too.
