Hi Angie, when I look to buy earrings as a gift for females, I always look to buy chandelier earrings because they stand-out in a crowd. I recently took a friend out to a concert and more than 6 women were complimenting the chandeliers she had on.

My top sellers have been sterling silver in large round hoops and teardrop earrings. Chandeliers are also very popular. Big and dangly.

Fashion is segmented by age, price range, area of the country where you live and lifestyle.
Studs and hoops have been very popular for many years. Dangle, huggies and chandeliers sell well.
Some earring themes seem eternal, too – crosses, hearts, stars.
We do well with our diamond kites, squares, rounds in black diamonds, blue diamonds, chocolate diamonds, white diamonds and a little with yellow diamonds.

Out of all the different styles of earrings I have made the most favorable have been the dangles and hoops. Some stud earrings did sell well but my focus for creating earrings now are the dangle ones. Lots of color and sparkles are a favorite of many. Dichroic glass earrings has been a big seller.

Definitely the large hoops, chandelier and long dangly ones – they are seen everywhere in NYC.

I think some styles will always be popular such as hoops and small gold stud earrings. Right now everywhere I go I see lots of big earrings and lots of chandelier earrings (sp?) I see a lot of enamel earrings too. With costume jewelry being so affordable, you can have earrings to match almost everything.
