What is the best way to research the value of art?

Does anyone know the value of a laurel & hardy print that is 18×22 looks like a poster from a movie but does not have any writing and no pixels I have this picture – I would like to know the value before I list It.I have searched everywhere on the internet and galleries’ I will email photos to anyone who might have some info.

Check this site out. They have a huge selection of items and he is very knowledgeable. Just simply type in laurel and hardy in the search section.

I would check with Nick at www.swanngalleries.com of antique roadshow show fame, he is an expert in movie posters. You can hear an interview of him at www.collectiblescornertv.com where he talks about how to value movie posters.

Or you could do search on worthpoint or askart but that would require a fee. But did you know that some local librarys subscribe to these databases and if you have a library card you can search for free from home ask the librarian for details about their subscription databases.

Get a subscription to a site like AskArt. You can research any known listed artists there. There is a cost to it, but it is accurate information and has some benefits, such as letting you know when an artist of your particular interest has a painting that sells, they notify you of the amount for which the item sold. So you get the basic artist information, but it lets you know current values as well.
