Anyone sold anything lately?

It’s been weeks, maybe months, since I sold something on Bonanza.
It’s been a week or two since I sold something on social media.
I sold something on The Bay about a month ago.
I think I sold something on V maybe two months ago.

Too much online competition.

I sold some VooDoo dolls at a community Small Business Sale. I think this might be the way to go.

How you people doing with online sales?

Have sold a few items but not the norm. I think people are really hanging on to their money right now with the government shenanigans going on

Hvytoys says: January 10, 2019

yah, we sell just about every day. it has to be what you’re selling, or how you’re presenting it if you don’t

I’m thinking flea markets and local church sales are better for me. I agree with hvytoys, it has to be what I’m selling. Collectibles aren’t a “thing” anymore.

My sales are apparently deceased

Hopefully things will pick up. I am returning after trying to sell on a paid site.

I sold 4 things total in the last few months. Im thinking about going on the old site I use to use. I spent so much time listing items here and I havent had any luck here. I do my research to have the lowest prices online. I dont understand what is going on.

It’s been deader than a door nail. The last week has fell off the map other than one sale across the sites I sell on.

Thanks for asking. I was thinking of doing the same.

Definitely slower than last month, however, I am doing on average 2 sales a day for my booth here and about the same along the others. This is always a slower time for internet sales though, and now with the Government shut down and such I think as mentioned everyone just does not have that extra money right now. I always use these times to just stock new product, fix older listings, adjust pricing etc.

very slow for me also!

Due to labour disruptions, then Christmas, I closed down my shops early in November and just re-opened late last week.

I had one sale each on Bonanza and Etsy yesterday. I find my sales on both sites are infrequent, but I need to get to work.

On Bonanza, I need to figure out how to show shipping from Canada, reliably. I need to revamp old listings and get new stuff added.

My ScentWork Booth has sold 4 items in 2019. I’m actually happy with that.

One sale for January so far. I’m using this slow time to add more items and work on old listings.

2 sales this month (actually in one week). Normally I can go 3 or 4 months without a nibble but perhaps Ebays new payment system (not accepting Paypal) is taking its toll there and peeps are looking elseware. I hope it keeps up. I got lots of tokens accumulated just waiting to be used. Happy Sales to All.

At this time, eBay is still accepting Paypal. I’ve been on there since about a month before Christmas hard at it and they accepted Paypal the whole time and still to today.

EmpressDepot says: January 09, 2019

Congrats on your 2 sales by the way.

Atomicdiner says: January 10, 2019

Empress, apparently you found sellers there that have not been converted to new payment system so PP still works. Sellers that converted cant take PP and cant switch back. Not good for sellers or buyers there. Eventually they will convert all over to MP.

ib30667 says: January 10, 2019

I think Ebay just shot themselves in the foot with that managed payment system. I’m leaving as soon as it’s mandatory. Same reason I left Etsy. No sales here in over a month. Not that I got a ton to start with.

EmpressDepot says: January 10, 2019

From what I understand, no matter what, PayPal can still be offered at the same time

EmpressDepot says: January 10, 2019

Hmmm, now I’m not so sure. Either way, I’ve always been ok with eBay. I can either roll with the punches selling on these websites when there are changes or start a website. Been there and done that with my own website and prefer selling sites like these.

Sold a 13 year old SUV yesterday without advertising it anywhere. The guy did some yard work for me and asked if it was for sale. It was not in running condition but he said he could do the work. He needed a 4 wheel drive with all the snow we get here in the NC mountains and has a disabled wife and raising 2 grandchildren.
Then last fall I sold a 30 year old utility trailer which needed new tires and paint job the same way to workmen installing my new floors. They asked if the utility trailer was for sale. Again, I wasn’t advertising but dragging my feet in advertising it.
As far as online sales, mine has also been deader than a door nail too…..lol haven’t heard that saying in a long time but how true and descriptive.

I was going to say the same thing about the deader than a door nail comment too. We are showing our age I guess.

EmpressDepot says: January 10, 2019

lol on deader than a door nail. I had no idea it was an old saying.

EmpressDepot says: January 10, 2019

I should say I had no idea it was such an old saying that it is not used too much in modern times now.

my own store..nothing (there is echoing there…)…(web store not associated with bonz)
Etsy one big sale, one little sale
Bonanza 4 sales

but I was closed from Thanksgiving until Dec 10 for vacation and I think it is shutdown is affecting it…

I guess I will not have to knock if Im there at your store then right lol. My crystal ball says you will get one at your store soon.

My sales have been so low here that I have my booth on vacation. I’ve been on another site for about two months now and have made close to 30 sales already. I may just close this booth down all together. Even with self promotion here, I barely sold anything, 12 sales in a year isn’t really worth the effort.

I sell more when I advertise stuff on ebay. I am getting more traction with adding in advertising for my bonanza booth from these sales. Went from 1 sale a month to maybe 5 or 6.

Good comment. I have some stuff on ebay and I am going to add a note to my packing slip..

On some of the small stuff you get a lot of competition from ebay’s China sellers for small toys, plastic stuff and stuffed toys. They sell jewelry for next to nothing. You kind of have to look at what IS selling and think of ways to expand that. Maybe by sticking to unique stuff.
By the way a wire that powers something is a cord, not a chord. you have a typo in your listing.
