If Bonanza would give some kind of discount on a first purchase to new members they might get there feet wet instead of just browse
I am selling items elsewhere
The sellers follow the money, if you build it they will come

That’s definitely an incentive, but – and I’m not trying to be negative here, just facing facts – A) You can give people a discount on their first item yourself if you wish and B) ideas that spend other people’s money are always the easiest.

It’s a nice gesture but with looking at the numbers, it would not be feasible for Bonanza to do this on a regular basis, especially at 3.5% amd 9%, out comes part of that FVF for advertising on Google shopping, too. At 30% though and the one below there would seem to be more flexibility with those percentages.
One time though when I was doing the free trial gold membership (not sure if it was because of that specifically), I did get a sale where Bonanza waived some, if not all, of the FVF. So there is something in there that they do try to do. Sorry, I cannot remember all of the specifics. It’s been months back now. They had somehow promoted that listing especially.

Getting people to browse a booth is an important aspect of selling an item. Most of us are happy to get browsers. Price is another aspect. However, when people who actually want to buy a certain item, do a search they don’t type in the name of our booth, they type in the item they are looking for. Bonanza, not yet being a go-to place, draws most of our buyers through Google. If they are serious buyers and our item shows up in the search and the price is right, they will buy it. The keys are 1)search results, 2)pricing, 3)number of choices offered and our 4)customer service reputation. In my experience, buyers are not usually browsers, since they are usually brought to our item, not our booth. In our two antique outlet mall booths, browsers CAN become buyers due to the “impulse” effect which is greatly reduced in online buyers. New customers don’t just drop by our online booth.

I think the biggest thing to say here is….if you think you are going to get the same play here as you do thru eBay, you will be sorely disappointed. Even as bad as eBay is it is still the #1 go to site, even dealing with all the problems customers still flock there. With Bonanza you gotta work for it, advertise constantly, promote, constantly list new items etc. I have been selling online since 1998 first with eBay and them moved on to other venues. Bonanza is a great site with great sellers and customer service. I myself have around 1967 items and I add new ones daily, constantly promoting thru social media, sending out coupons, offering weekly sales etc. You gotta put in to get out, the same as with any business. I myself tend to do quite well here and utilize this as my main site, but, I do sell on other venues as well, you have to these days, but, when I do sell on the others I send a coupon pushing them to this main site. Not only helps myself but helps the fellow Bonanzians with some hopeful customers. Now, as the seller you yourself can offer discounts to first time buyers, why should Bonanza have to do that? It is your booth, you gotta do things to create your own sales. Good luck to you and hopefully your sales will pick up.
