Can anyone suggest an honest and legal website designer?

I learned a BIG lesson, research before you proceed with just any web designer. I hired an out of state website developing company to build me a new website. Well after no returned phone calls or emails I did some research online and guess what? They are known to be a fraudulant and poor company. Over 600 complaints and rated D+ with the BBB. So I had to stop everything and file a fraudulant claim. So enough about that problem, now I am looking for a new web designer and thought this would be a good place to ask around. I should have done this to begin with.

Can anyone direct me to a reputable designer?

Hi Brad,

I know an extremely talented web designer who is presently designing a an ecommerce site for a very big client.

You probably have 2 or 3 of these stores in your town.
This is her website and she has a team of people, is responsive and will design the complete package. UI/UX (User Interface/User Experience) knows how a person’s eye travels around a page, what layouts are the best for what types of products in ecommerce etc.. She will be designing a site for me in the future. Her name is Debbie Levitt and this is the link to her site. [URL removed]

My website is through GoDaddy and the best part is that I was able to design it myself…using the templates…there are many I had no trouble creating my site and had no experience prior to purchasing…hope it helps.

I always choose a white background, unless the item is white, I choose a semi dark background.

Dear Brad,

I have a booth on Bonanzle and saw your post this morning. If you need a reliable website designer, maybe I can be of assistance.

I have over 7+ years experience as a freelance graphic designer and website designer. A lot of people who hire me do so because they like my design style, which has… been described as “clean.”

We can highly recommend Pixclinic. Hugh designed our ebay store which we no longer use and he has designed many other successful e-commerce sites including thefrenchybee.com

I suggest you go to www.tiptopwebsite.com and with NO skills or knowledge, you can create your own website with colors, copy, photos, etc.All you need do is type, It only costs $9.95 a month for 1,000 pages and NO contract.A great advantage to TipTop is that you can CHANGE ANYTHING and EVERYTHING whenever you choose—a great thing when you’re just starting your website and and will always find down the road with some experience that you’d like to do things differently.
When you’ve paid a website designer a huge fee, you’d have to go back and pay more $$ to have the site changed.

Someone recommended Go Daddy—that, also, is a terrific option—
even less than $10 monthly for some packages—and you don’t need any experience to create a wonderful site for yourself.

I use www.homestead.com for all of mine. They are owned by Twocows. they can set it up for you, or you can do your own. They use paypal or your system. They have drop and drag tec. so it’s very easy if you want to do your own. They have great customer support as well. I have been there for several years now. Oh and they have very good prices. :)

There are so many different types of answers here. I think it really depends on what you’re looking for. Do you need a full e-commerce solution or is it going to be primarily an informative website with links pointing elsewhere? What’s the main purpose for having this website?

I’m sorry you had to go through that. I had an experience like that with a hosting provider, myself.

Anyway, you really need to determine what this website’s overall purpose is before you can determine what resource will best suit the job. If you need a spoon…trying to use a fork, no matter how nice or expensive it is, just won’t suffice.

If you’ve already decided what you’re looking for in a website perhaps you could share the specifics so we could better help you.

I want to thank you all for all your suggestions. I will carefully review each one and make a decision soon so I can proceed with my new web site.

Post an answer for:

  • Replies that directly and specifically answer the original question

Post a comment for:

  • "Thanks," "Me too," "I agree," or "Works for me" types of replies
  • When you would like the original poster to provide more details
  • When you have more to add to someone else's question or answer
