Does anyone know anything about this signature or art style?

I picked up what I thought was a beautiful old print at a garage sale last fall. I cleaned the glass and found it was dirty on the other side so I had to take it out of the frame to better clean the glass. In doing so I noticed that this really looks like an original watercolor and the black background is a powdery substance like chalk or charcoal.

There is a signature but I can’t make out one of the letters to even do a search to see if it is a known artist. So, any help would be appreciated.

Thank you SoldiersLibrary! I got an email suggesting that it might be Italian and artist name Happo. I will check into that!
