Going through their samples of fees layout – i do not understand
You sell a $2 item. Although $2 × 3.5% = $0.07 you still owe $0.50 as that is the minimum on any item.
why would they charge .50 per item sold when it does not belong to them?
this is trickery, I assume?
Not trickery at all really, all is explained very clearly and we as business owners can either accept the agreement and use their platform or decide not too and sell elsewhere. I have been with Bonanza for many years and their fees are the lowest actually of most of the sites, especially since you get a free booth, great customer service and constant upgrades. Definitely have to research before diving in.

Minimum fee since the very beginning (2008) has always been $0.50 for a sale…not tricky..it is flat out stated that there will be a minimum FVF for items sold
The fee structure varies due to search engines charging to be listing in their shopping set-up..and the fee structure is explained…(under advertising)
why would they charge .50 per item sold when it does not belong to them?
It is not per item it is per transaction…if your total transaction is less than or equal to approx $14.00 (at ~ $15 the 3.5% kicks in) the FVF will be $0.50…
So if you only sell one item in the transaction and it is less than $15.00 then, yes, stated that way, the fee will be $0.50/per item

Bonanza fees at minimum $0.50 for a sale are one of the cheapest out in the selling arena and they don’t charge fees on any shipping costs under $10 which is a bonus. While it is all explained (somewhere) in the terms of use, it may not be advantageous if you sell LOW cost items. Like FantasticFinds said, YOU have to research before diving in.
