Google pulled my booth for violating policy i didn't violate...

Google has pulled all my listings off of Google shopping for violating their policy in regards to the sale and promotion of tobacco and tobacco products. They first pulled it in November, right before Black Friday. It has been off google shopping since, so basically my sales have plummeted.

I have tried to fix it several times, to no avail, been in contact with support, and patiently waited for it to miraculously appear online again, but nothing. I recently submitted my google feed for review again and was denied for tobacco-related products again.

The problem is that I DON’T HAVE ANYTHING RELATED TO TOBACCO IN MY BOOTH.

So can any kind soul here look at my booth to see if they can find anything related to smoking, please?

As far as I can tell from this whole debacle is that there is no contesting the policy violation. I’m just guilty when I’m not. They don’t even tell you what item potentially violates it. Just in case, I’ve changed items and even pulled a few that may have triggered some bot, but still nothing.

And another question, Can I start another Bonanza booth, that will have another separate google feed, so I can hopefully get views coming in again, at least to my new booth, or am I just banned across all boards with Google?

Please help. This is making me sick, literally.

I’m trying to fix them, but I can’t see the problems with some of them. One of the items restricted is [URL removed] Hallmark My Pet Ghost In a lights and sounds bottle Halloween Maxwell McSpooky. I have no idea what’s wrong with that one.

if you can’t figure it out or fix it, I would reserve it or go ahead and make a new listing and delete the old..sometimes it’s best just to start over with a listing

Hi Lunarwingswonders,

I had a problem with restricted words in my listings and found them in the batch edit where Bonanza will tell you what items are being rejected. For example, I have a folk art wooden brooch of a man smoking a pipe. In the description I described it as a man having a smoking pipe in his mouth. The words “smoking” and “pipe” were the problems. I had an “ashtray” that I had to change to a trinket dish. I have a vintage cigarette holder compact purse that I can’t describe accurately. I can’t mention it holds cigarettes. I did manage to find all the errors through batch editing. It took me a quite a while to figure it out. If you use any words in a listing that have to do with cigarettes or smoking it will show as a problem and be rejected by Google. I did find four little pewter Glass Wishing Wizards in your booth that you describe as being able to be placed in the “ashtray of your car”. The word “ashtray” will be one problem I can spot. Words such as cigarette, pipe, smoke, cigarette case, etc. will cause you trouble. I had one item that really stumped me. I have a “Sandpiper Bird Figurine” that was rejected. I had no idea why until I finally realized that “Sandpiper” had the word “pipe” in it. Once I changed that it was accepted. Hope this helps.

As Star says..it is not necessarily tobacco, but words such as smoking, ash, check you incense listings…ashtray…etc..totally innocent wording that the “bots” look for…

Or innocent words like Bagpiper!

Google Shopping has this link to ask about disapproved feeds or items, if you haven’t tried this yet, it may be [URL removed]

Google Shopping restrictions are confusing, but they say that they DO allow ashtrays and lighters.

“Google allows the promotion of tobacco accessories such as lighters, ashtrays, cigar cutters, etc.”

They also [URL removed]

“Google allows the promotion of products for quitting smoking, such as plasters, patches, and gum.”

They do not allow the following tobacco related [URL removed]

“Google doesn’t allow the promotion of tobacco.”

“Google doesn’t allow the promotion of products that contain tobacco, including cigarettes.”

“Google doesn’t allow the promotion of tobacco alternatives or cigarette alternatives, such as cigarettes that contain no tobacco and electronic cigarettes, even if promoted as an aid to quit smoking.”

“Google doesn’t allow the promotion of cigars and cigarillos.”

“Google doesn’t allow the promotion of tobacco pipes, rolling papers, and vaporizers.”

I had one listing restricted for the word “pipestone” so I edited it to be “catlinite” instead and it was accepted
I also had my entire feed blocked to google shopping for having fossil shark tooth jewelry – I don’t send those items to google shopping anymore and have had no further issues

Pretty weird since there is a bonanza category under collectibles especially for tobacco and related tobacco products.

Yes, but just because Bonanza allows a listing, doesn’t mean Google Shopping does, unfortunately. There are lots of vintage smoking accessories, ads, etc., that people collect. It certainly doesn’t mean one sells or promotes smoking, does it? Google rules are weird, in a lot of cases.

she may also have the problem with the word (Dash or dashboard of car)…
the bots may be picking up “ash”…

please note that the word “Dickens” as in is sometimes bumped because it contains the word dick and we also had the trouble with Assembly required because it contained the word a$$..

so you see it may be just something totally innocent..like Star’s Sandpiper..for containing the word pipe

Sheepish, I found that as well with my items, but if you go to “Sell on Bonanza” at the top of the page, then “Update Items as A Group”, and finally “Search Optimize”, the items will show as restricted in the Search Optimize section from Bonanza. That was how I found them.
