I received an email from Mark Bonanza about a certain item I purchased that was never delivered because of a vendor that was shady. Instead of contacting me with a legit number, I was advised to contact my PayPal accoun which is beyond difficult since they lack customer service representatives due to COVID-19 and have a limited crew. Not to mention all their phones are automated and results in disconnecting from me the customer.

In order to get a refund of your purchase for an undelivered item, you must file a PayPal claim for an Item Not Received (INR). You can do this by logging into your PayPal account, viewing your purchase transaction, and file a claim through PayPal’s website.
Bonanza, like similar websites (eBay, etsy, etc.), is simply a marketplace that individual sellers use to market their items. Bonanza does not collect the purchase funds and is not responsible to ship items sold by those sellers. They can only remove “shady” sellers from their website. It’s unfortunate that this happened but it could have happened on eBay, etsy, etc. just as easily as it did on Bonanza.
By using PayPal, you are paying the seller directly. PayPal does offer buyer protection for Bonanza purchases, but you do have to file a claim with PayPal in order to get a refund.

This only works if the purchase was made using a PayPal balance. I recently tried to report a seller who never sent an item I purchased. I used my debit card and even though it was technically through PayPal, the transaction doesn’t show up in my account. I had to contact my bank to get my money back.
