How to exclude alaska, hawaii, po box shipping?

What do most people do about this?
most of the items I have listed include free shipping
I have shipped things to hawaii before and the shipping can be double or triple.

You can put it in your listings or can put the information in the Ships within xx business days..but there is no way to block it…

Edit Booth Options
Shipping &Returns

Items ship within business days

There is a small box there..this box can hold quite a bit of information…

I do not ship outside of Continental US and PO Boxes. Items ships within xx days (this will show in listings)

I see you are in Texas..which means you would not get zone 8 shipping charges for priority (the more centralized location)..for me being on the east coast, shipping to the west coast Is the same as shipping to Hawaii and Alaska…both are Zone 8, therefore excluding the entire west coast would not be feasible…..another consideration is that First shipping (for smaller items is the same cost, no matter where)

If you lived on either coast (west coast shipping to east coast or east coast to west coast), shipping to the other coast would cost the same as shipping to Hawaii/Alaska….just something to think about because you are cutting out some of your US buyers

I have seen this nearly identical claim on eBay about shipping to west coast vs Hawaii… it simply is not true – everything I ship to Alaska or Hawaii costs me more to ship, and it gets worse the more it weighs.

The only way I know to handle it is to put on your profile under seller’s terms and conditions as well as in your items ads is that the free shipping is only for the lower 48 states. At least that’s how I do it when shipping is included in the price of my items for sale.

To do this you need to go to your My Bonanza page and click on Account Settings, Then on the left hand side menu find the link Edit Booth Options Under Booth Management, click on that link and then across the top you’ll see various options that you can select. Select the one that says Shipping & Returns. There you’ll find underneath the Shipping Profiles You’ll find a text box where you can spell out your Shipping Policy. That’s where you should spell out that you offer Free Shipping Only to anywhere in the 48 lower U.S. States. Name the States and Territories that you do not ship free to and perhaps put in that they should contact you for a shipping quote. I would also include this same wording within your ad just to be sure that it is seen by the buyers as not all will read your shipping policy prior to buying.

I see many who won’t ship to AK or HI. Why? Granted I’m on the East Coast but my cost to ship to AK or HI is no different than it is to ship to CA, WA, OR. They’re all in the same zone.

If you are shipping UPS or Fedex, shipping cost is much higher to AK or HI. If you are shipping Parcel Post, delivery time can be much longer, which could dissapoint buyers.

Since you ship thru the Post Office, why would you exclude PO boxes?

Its only the same cost sometimes using USPS. When using UPS or FEDEX its much more expensive to ship to HI or AK
