Need help figuring flat rates for international regions

Hi ccmom, thank you for your great explanations. I will have to think about what is best for me regarding international. How could I figure flat rates by region? You [URL removed]

“Now as to Parcel Select
You do realize that USPS no longer offers Parcel Select in the Zones closest to the origin of the mail..ie postal zones 1,2,3 from your location. Parcel Select/Standard is only offered on those zones farthest away from point of origin and in some cases priority costs less..especially for lighter weight items”

No, I did not know that. So what class does USPS use for over 13oz? I have quite a few items that are 2lbs and one that is 4lbs and one that is 5lbs. When I calculate on eBay for one of those items and choose Los Angeles-I live in southern California-it gives me a rate for Parcel Select.

Hi AbbysAttic! Thank you for your response. How can your customers choose parcel select when Bonanza only lists priority mail?

Thanks for your help!

First welcome to bonanza…

You can leave your interanational shipping open, by simply stating that you will ship Internationally and check the areas you will ship when making the listing

If you get an international buyer, the order will come as an offer in which you can add the shipping for their location. You can contact them before adding shipping costs and give them the costs for FC or Priority and let them decide which one they wish to use.

Mine is set so international buyers do an OBO and contact me for costs.

In Update Items as a Group (batch edit)
Shipping
You can set a flat rate for FC international according to regions, if you so desire

You can simply state in you listings or in the area were under booth options (shipping&returns),
Items ship within International buyers contact for shipping costs. Items ships within xx business days

It looks like a little box, but it holds quite a bit of information.

Now as to Parcel Select
You do realize that USPS no longer offers Parcel Select in the Zones closest to the origin of the mail..ie postal zones 1,2,3 from your location. Parcel Select/Standard is only offered on those zones farthest away from point of origin and in some cases priority costs less..especially for lighter weight items

Parcel Select is only cheaper..for heavier, long distance items (opposite coast)

If anything is less than 4 pounds is probably cheaper going priority or using Regional Rates which really cuts down on priority costs

Unless, you have a volume account…

How would I figure flat rates for international regions?

I would go to USPS, [URL removed] and check the prices for various locations, I know like Japan, Austailia is the same price, I think most places in Europe are too..

For zones 1-3 USPS uses priority for over 13 oz…zones 4-9 you can choose to use priority or Standard/(parcel select)

Thank you so much!

Of course. Whatever you write in your description should be seen by anyone who is looking. The only issue is that buyers don’t always read the description.

I have to agree with you that the cost of priority international really became prohibitive after the last price increase. Regarding parcel select, most of my customers do choose that option when it’s over 13 oz, but I end up sending it priority mail anyway. With the on-line discount, oftentimes it’s cheaper for me to purchase the priority mail than parcel select.

How do your customers choose parcel select if Bonanza only offers priority?

ebay uses the volume account option for Standard postage which is Parcel Select…but if you actually look at the price at USPS, it is just called either priority or Regional Rates..which are lower for 2-4 pounds.

her customers can choose parcel if their zipcode is far enough away from her..if you want to know what the zones are for your [URL removed] Since you live in CA and I in NC you are zone 8 from me and I am zone 8 for you

Also be aware that the Bonz calculator quotes retail prices, not online discount prices…

TvMovieCollectibles says: June 19, 2014

So Bonanza will show Parcel Select as an option? It doesn’t always show just priority?

ccmom says: June 19, 2014

Yes if the zipcode is far enough away. The best thing to do is..set up a listing, log out, put the item in your cart and use different zipcodes to see the options the buyer sees…when in doubt..experiment..
