I'm confused about this first class shipping price increase

I have a 3.8 oz item. USPS site states it’s $2.74. I’m seeing $2.60 on other people’s listings for the same exact item.

The $2.60 is for Commercial First Class. The $2.74 is for Retail.

Retail would be for just residents and probably me, who is just a small time seller.

Commercial is for the larger seller who has a business, right?

I can’t see changing my shipping rate to the lower rate because that’s not what my post office is going to charge me. I’m noticing that people aren’t buying my items because I have the higher shipping rate.

Could someone clarify this for me. Shipping has always been a nemesis of mine.

You use Paypal..go to the transactions in PP click on the Print shipping label link that is with the transactions…you will get the online Commercial prices

Since the price changes on Jan 17th…First Class prices have changed.

Online (Commercial Base) which is what you get from Paypal (and other online services) the prices are [URL removed]
First class has been re-organized with commercial base [URL removed]

1-8 oz is $2.60
9 oz $3.30
10 oz $3.35
11 oz $3.40
12 oz $3.45
13 oz $3.50
14 oz $3.55
15 oz $3.60
15.999 oz $3.65 (this one is still and issue since most sites have not updated to be able to do Fractional weights and last I checked, Paypal has not yet update either)

Paypal is offering the FC to 15oz but USPS is not, it still cuts off at 13 oz at least for now (this has not yet been updated)…if your buyer does not use paypal…then you can use the ship now option, enter in the information and print labels and still get the discounts at Paypal.

Login and use this [URL removed]

I am sure Bonanza has updated their shipping with the new USPS web tools but I cannot say for sure, as I have not used the shipping since the update

The Retail for FC is way different and is organized like [URL removed]
1-3 oz $2.54
4 oz $2.74
5 oz $2.94
6 oz $3.14
7 oz $3.34
8 oz $3.54
9 oz $3.74
10 oz $3.94
11 oz $4.14
12 oz $4.34
13 oz $4.54

14 and 15 have not yet been added

As of now, you cannot print FC at Click n Ship, also Click n ship has dropped the online discount and will only print labels for full retail

Commercial Plus (which is what ebay/amazon and larger retailers used, has been discontinued, though they are in negotiations to get some of that discount back)

Standard is now called Retail Ground and is in many cases higher than priority

The message about Regional Rate boxes at USPS Click n Ship [URL removed]

Attention Click-N-Ship [URL removed] Regional Rate Boxes A and B were inadvertently removed during our last update. We’re working to put them back as soon as possible. Please watch this space for updates.

Regional Rate box C has been dropped

And that is the way it is right now.

PS

Always round up….3.8 oz you will be charged for 4 oz (though now it is the same cost and the only exception is the 15-15.999 oz…)

Same with pounds 1 lb 8 oz is same cost as 2 lbs (again except for international first class..where the extra ounces do matter)

[URL removed] I went back into PayPal and checked…

When using Ship Now (link shown above) you are limited to 13 oz for FC at paypal, but if you use the Print Shipping Label link associated with the transaction, you can print label to 15 oz…

It would appear that the “classic” view was not updated, as the new format was updated and will allow printing of 14 and 15 oz labels

_I do not know what everyone sees when they open their paypal account, but this is what I see….Personal/buyer info removed-

![URL removed]

The first transaction is new and has the buyer’s name with link that says Print Shipping Label | Add Tracking info

Click on Print shipping label

![URL removed]

It will open to the shipping page, which is different from the old ‘classic’ ship now [URL removed]

![URL removed]

Select shipping In this case I chose First Class/Parcel and entered a weight of 15 oz…as you can see..it calculated the shipping costs. Click on blue button to confirm and pay and print the label

![URL removed]

Here is one I had Jan 20, as you can see it is a FC 15 oz package with the Correct commercial base price

See edited comment above…

You don’t have to be a large seller to ship your item for $2.60 as long as you print your shipping labels using Paypal.

Paypal is least expensive option when it comes to printing shipping labels. The USPS website would be the next best option, but is slightly more money to print your labels. And paying for a label at the actual post office is the most expensive option. I know you can print your labels directly through Bonanza, but I have never used this option as Bonanza will charge extra for printing your label through them.

I print all of my labels through Paypal and then drop the package off at the post office.

Since the new changes the USPS made a about two weeks ago, a first mail class package weighting up to 8 oz ships for $2.60 and a package over 8 oz and up to 16 oz ships for between $3.30 and $3.60 when you print your labels through Paypal. First class mail now includes packages up to 16 oz.

Thanks for this info, especially about Paypal label printing vs USPS.

I have been using paypal to ship for a long time. We cannot get the the new rate at paypal. It still only goes up to 13 oz. There are discussions on other boards where they are saying paypal is “broke” lol. Also, you cannot get the new rate by going into the post office, and I still cannot get the new rates anyplace online. First class for us still only goes up to 13 oz.

Wow, you guys are the best! Thank you SO much for the detailed info! It makes SO much more sense now! I don’t print anything from PayPal. I do my own. So this is why the price difference! I will have to think about using PayPal from now on. Beats having to take the shipping out of pocket. Comes right out of the PP account, which I knew but was too stubborn to care.

Thanks so much for help!
