Pricegrabber, nextag, bing feed diagnostics

Ok, so continuing from my google issue, I decided to look at the diagnostics for Pricegrabber, Nextag, and Bing. Lo and behold, more than half of my listed items ARE NOT being submitted to those search engines. The main issue with my listings is “Missing manfuacturer, brand, author, or artist name.”…this is coming up on items that are clearly listed as Fenton or another company or on vintage items where the manufacturer is unknown.

How does one fix this?

It is no wonder sales are slow when half your items aren’t out there due to search engine red tape.

Ughhhhh you guys just don’t know how frustrated I am right now. The need a ‘for dummies’ book on this stuff. And where are our forums, Bonz? These are the kind of issues we need to be able to discuss, trade ideas, and learn from each other on.

I honestly don’t think this problem is on our end, I think its the monopoly wars of the search engines – but we are the ones who suffer the consequences.

There’s a site I follow called FairSearch.org. They have what the call a “The Google Playbook” ( thegoogleplaybook.com ) and the following, IMHO anyway, says it [URL removed]

“Now, Google no longer delivers the best results for users. Instead it focuses on delivering the best results for its own bottom line.”

I suspect it’s the same with Bing. They’re all fighting for profit, not for search results and new federal regulations in the last six years turn a blind eye to this travesty.

It would seem we’re better off trying to help each other than relying on these greedy search engines who just look for excuses and stupid little “Rules” and demands they make up to keep us off the playing field. Arg. SO frustrating.

I completely agree Fitnfree, if we don’t help each other, who will? This is ridiculous, no wonder hardly any of our items are selling.

Thank you, misskeech! I didn’t want to ruffle any feathers but I have been following all this search stuff since early 2011 when it started getting so bad and that’s the only conclusion that is viable. The little guy is shoved out! Not right IMHO. We need to figure out ways to help each other…

Tortuga says: October 16, 2014

I agree as well….this whole thing is crazy and we sellers should not be the ones jumping through hoops.

misskeech says: October 17, 2014

I am in a group here where we make one small purchase a month. I like that. I like that we can help out other members while maybe making a small sale ourselves. I plan, with this group, and thru other bonz members to try to do alot of my Christmas shopping on bonanza instead of ebay or other places.

maydamart says: October 17, 2014

Good idea tortuga, I will do that, too! I’m in the GOTW group as well – anyone reading this go to games and join us. Keeping my thinking cap on…

Google I am ok on but the others I agree with and some of my items may not qualify but like you said items that are clearly marked like maybelline and things are coming up like that on the other feeds.

Pricegrabber has done 412 items
Nextag has done 428 items
And Bing has only done 376 items

Oh and again I soooo miss the old forums

It is just frustrating. You need to be a computer programmer to get this stuff right lol. Not sure what is going on with my google shopping which is showing a big fat zero, but I did just find google’s phone number so might give them a call if Bonanza can’t help.

Tortuga says: October 15, 2014

Just peeked your way…over 1500 items, plus over 1000 sales! Awesome! You seem to be doing well despite the search engines, thats encouraging! Maybe I should just keep listing and not fret

maydamart says: October 16, 2014

Add me to the list of people who really miss the old forum! As for this search thing, glad you’re bringing it up tortuga, because I thought I was just a dunderhead or something. Same issues here. It’s insane for them to want all that info. When I’m buying the last thing I care about is some MPN etc

I looked at mine, and it looks like things are going thru (I think anyway!) But i see where it says some of my things like size etc were removed because i had them wrong?and yes, i have the same thing….i have the name of the item, but its saying i don’t have a brand???? Very confusing! I don’t know, i don’t understand any of this…..At least with the old forums we were able to help each other, now we can’t get anything done :(

Just putting my two cents in here yes I’ve the same problem. and I’ve not had any luck figuring out how to correct it either. things that are clearly branded and have an artist name are being rejected. I’ve poured over the information on each of the feeds and cannot find why or how to correct it. it would be nice if one of the bonanza support folks could weigh in here and give some insight into how to fix the problems. and YES I miss the old forums too.

the above is just one example and shows that I don’t have the ISBN or any shipping method selected but the ISBN is there and I have USPS media mail selected. There are many more examples and some are in categories where there is no way to add the required information

njr55 says: October 16, 2014

Ziggy ^^^^ Ditto. I went through and fixed/added the search whatever it was called I read somewhere and I have issues with 2 books I have listed as well. The ISBN number and Publisher etc is CLEARLY printed inside the book and on the dust jacket, but it’s saying everything is wrong!

I’ve have worked through a lot of those issues by going to ‘marketing and advertising,’ clicking on the link for ‘optimize for google settings,’ and initiating a feed status review. Then I corrected the items by adding attributes where possible and deleting ones that were kicking it back. [Just a [URL removed] I found a lot of the ebay attributes are creating havoc.] You can do the same thing for any of the search engines.

An alternative is to go to “update items as a group,” and click on ‘search optimize’ on the left. All of your listing and attributes will show. You can use the “Add search attributes” or “Remove search attributes” on a single item or multiple by clicking on the item you want to change. You just have to be sure to type it exactly as it appears in the attribute and in double-ended [URL removed] example [[[URL removed] Harcourt School Publishers]]

Here is a link to the GTIN Validation [URL removed] [URL removed]
It refers to what we know as ISBN.
When using ISBN numbers, always make the primary one the ISBN-13 and eliminate the dashes. If it still rejects it, you can try it with a zero before the number (mostly applies to older numbers).

Feel free to send me a message and I will be glad to help more if I can.
