So google checkout is no more come november?

I’m guessing most who accept google checkout got the email.

“An update to Google Checkout
Hello,

A key focus of Google Wallet is to simplify and improve the commerce experience for merchants and shoppers. Just last week, we announced two enhancements to the Google Wallet platform. The Instant Buy API enables merchants to offer a fast buying experience to Google Wallet shoppers on their Android apps and websites, while processing their own payments. In addition, the new Wallet Objects API enables merchants to engage their customers with loyalty, offers, and more.

As we continue to build the Wallet platform, we must focus our priorities. That is why we are announcing today that we will retire Google Checkout. We remain heavily invested in building a platform that enables merchants to meet the demands of a multi-screen world where consumers shop in-store, at their desk and on their mobile devices.
I sell goods or services using Google Checkout. What does this mean for me?
Merchants can continue to accept payments using Google Checkout until November 20, 2013. We have partnered with a few best-in-class companies to provide you with discounted migration options, so you can continue to run your business with as little disruption as possible."

What does everyone plan to do? Just remove it as an option? I actuaLLY HAVE had several people pay this way through the years. But if it will no longer be an option I guess that just leaves us with Amazon or Paypal?

Just curious what others think ….

This was being discussed on another page in the forum but I cant find it since the forum change.

I think this google wallet change will have to be asked by bonz support I am going to email them to see what they have to say about it

UPDATE CONTACTED BONZ SUPPORT HERE IS THE REPLY

Short term we are going to of course remove the Google Wallet option. Long term we are going to investigate adding the ability for sellers to add their own merchant accounts. Programming is already investigating this but from what I understand it is rather daunting. That is where we stand as of today :)

Looks like Google will get to be the Grinch again this coming Christmas.

Hmm….So this is the “new discussion” board. Not much of a “community” feel left. Kind of depressing.

Yes, you can just remove it as an option to pay. anneBlueAngel, it’s very depressing, I probably will not be visiting the boards at all any longer, which is probably the goal of bonz…

Yes, the Google announcement is quite disappointing. At least Google gave their users 6 months notice so that we can react appropriately.

I would like to provide my buyers with some options for making payments. With Google stepping out of the picture, I would only have PayPal here.

I am wondering what other sellers experience has been with the Amazon Payments option. How does it compare with PayPal and Google? Pros and cons.

Thanks for any insight.

UPDATE --
OK, I am obviously not familiar with this new community format. I never used the roundtable system. When I posted this comment, I see a notice that I can only post one “answer”. How are we supposed to have an actual discussion now? Any thoughts?

AdventuresAndHobbies,

I have used Amazon now for quite sometime and I was frustrated with them at first as it took so long to get my money. Now I get payment very quickly.

I also have another website and I take Amazon and Paypal only on that site. I would say that 75% of my customers on the other website use Amazon and my money is disbursed the same or next day. Just depends on when I get the order out.

I would prefer Amazon over Google anyday. Get very few payments through Google, therefore when they go byebye, that is fine with me.

Do not be afraid to use Amazon.

I will need to check out Amazon.
Also, ProPay may be an option.

To me Google Checkout/Wallet was a BIG hassle. You could NOT use it across all your venues, you could ONLY use it with one venue. If you wanted it at a second one, you would have to sign up with Google with a new Google log in and set up a second Google Checkout/Wallet account. Because of that, AND their promise (I waited 4 years on edge) of Google bringing shipping to their Checkout/Wallet accounts – I left Google
Products all together.

Talk about “Big Brother” attitude – Google has it, they want to gather up all this information on YOU and then share it with others and also “shove” in your face ads from places that you have visited on the net.

Get with it Google – catch up, pick up your game or you will be left behind. ;)

I have been concerned for a while that Bonanza wasn’t offering a wide enough range of payment options. People like me who don’t really care for Amazon because I see them as a Walmart style destructive force of e-commerce. I don’t trust Paypal because of my past dealings with them, saw Google as a great option. I have very few sales here lately but I do use it elsewhere quite often, and nothing but good experience with Google Checkout/Wallet in 7 years and over 2000 transactions through them.
It would be easy to integrate with other processors but they wouldn’t be as well known as the name “Google” is. I have also used Moneybookers and Propay on eBay and found them acceptable as well as authorize.net on a website I ran for several years was OK, just expensive to operate.
There is always another option. Sometimes though it just means the site you sell on has to be on board, or unfortunately you may have to move elsewhere. I really hope Bonanza can step up and help with some new payment options.

I have had Google Checkout for a long, long time with no problems. That having been said, I am as old as dirt, and this is very frustrating. I do not care for PayPay, or Amazon so probably after November 20th I will fade away.
JUST FED UP WITH EVERYTHING IN GENERAL.
