What does this mean?

Bonanza is an eBay built to help buyers make serendipitous discoveries.

This sentence is new on the about page. Why does it say Bonanza is an EBay when we are not EBay? It makes it appear to someone who doesn’t know that we are affiliate of some kind to EBay.

I see what you are saying it just seems it could have been worded more in a manner to say that we are like EBay, not Bonanza IS an EBAY.

I Quote ‘’Bonanza is an eBay built to help buyers make serendipitous discoveries.’’
First of all, the grammar is incorrect. Saying that Bonz is ‘’an eBay built’’ …built WHAT? A noun needs to follow that, like ‘’an eBay built user-friendly selling and buying site’’ or the wording might also [URL removed]
‘’Bonanza is liken to eBay, and is built to help buyers make serendipitous discoveries.’’

but the way it’s worded is grammatically incorrect.
they need to write it WITH the pause, like ‘’Bonanza is an eBay, built to help.’’ or ‘’Bonanza is an eBay – built to help’’ otherwise the reader might take that phrase in, incorrectly so, because the mind questions an eBay built WHAT? (and needs a noun, following the word ’’built’’) but WITH a pause (comma or dash) it makes more sense. It’s necessary to be totally grammatically correct when writing for a professional site.

Also I Agree, why even mention eBay?

Why Not [URL removed]
Bonanza is as good or many times better than it’s competitors, as it is a user-friendly buying and selling site, built to help buyers make serendipitous discoveries, as well as help our sellers gain exposure needed on the web.

???

By the way, I do not like the new community set up…I miss chatting about all kinds of things! Again, just my humble opinion…I’ll adjust, as what choice do any of us have…but, to give this a ’’go’’?

What it means to me is that Bonanza has the positive elements of a site like eBay when eBay was first developing, but that it allows buyers to discover unusual, in many cases hard-to-find items.

There are a lot of “eBay alternative” sites out there that have really gone nowhere. Bonanza has grown steadily and is continuing to do so and, for me at least, it’s the best alternative to eBay that I’ve found. It’s set itself up to provide sellers with an option other than eBay’s high fees, lack of customer service, and restrictive policies.

So to me it sets the site up in comparison to eBay rather than implying any sort of affiliation.
