Why do i need a credit card to sell here?

I wish to sell here & added my first item but, cannot sell without a credit card? I sell on other sites without this requirement. Guess I’m out of luck for using Bonanza. :( Good luck to all.

Unfortunately, while most people are honest, some are not. Asking for a credit card (debit card) to keep on file helps to keep scammers off of a site. It is also one of the very best ways to identify a person. Yes, we have Paypal where our debit card, bank account information is stored on their site but it is not the same as being stored here on Bonanza. Bonanza needs to know first hand that the seller is legit and they are who they say they are.

Also, Bonanza does not bill your credit card automatically each month. You get notification ahead of time on what your bill has come to and so you can either wait and let Bonanza charge it to your credit/debit card or go ahead and pay it ahead of time once you receive notification.

In order to sell on Amazon, a seller has to have a credit card. I’m sure there are others.

I would not be surprised if eBay starts to require this, too, once Paypal is no longer being used on their site as a payment processor.

You should also be able to set your settings in your online bank account to notify you by email when a debit has been made. I did this because it helps to ease my mind for many reasons that do not have anything to do with Bonanza. I know it does not help when you are sleeping at night but then again, things do not post right away.

I think you are already gone but if you happen to come back and read, give it some thought.

Ebay requires a credit card.

I try Bargainbuffet. As Cindy said further below about a credit card on Bonanza is another reason Bonz requires one.

I did not know eBay already requires a credit card on there. It’s been years since I first joined. I guess I need to make sure the one I have on their is up to date.

the one I have on “there” I meant…not “their”

In the beginning we did not have to have a credit card on file, unfortunately there were sellers that did not pay their fees with their chosen option (PayPal) and some eventually skipped after several months of fees accrued without paying.

The card is to pay any fvf or membership fees that come due, if the seller chooses not to pay with paypal (you are given the option at the beginning of each month…a 4 day window and if you do not use PayPal, then the card is automatically charged)..

Good luck with what you choose
