If the 8mm video is on a cassette that fits into a 8mm camcorder, then the camcorder can be hooked up to a computer and, with computer software, you can digitize the video as you play it back. This creates a digital file that can then be “burned” onto a DVD for playback in a DVD player.

It’s all about the software that you use and the format of the saved video. I use Macintosh computers which makes it very easy to do as the newer Macs are sold with all the software (no charge for the software( you need to do this. FYI, the software is iMovie.

You will need some kind professional service that can convert the 8mm film to digital format..

or lots of hardware of your own..

unless you are talking about digital 8mm then that is another process..which using the original or a camcorder that can convert..I know our old Sony camcorder can convert to VHS and DVD

search..there are many places that offer the service..

might be better to ask at a photography forum

look at Tom’s answer…I was thinking more in the lines of old reel to reel film, that I have been trying to get converted…and not the mini camcorder film
