Then on the bottom of the form is a total percentage… like 70%.
What does this mean?
Is it just a way to look for improvements in listings? Be more thorough?
It IS like a boss looking over your shoulder! And the first few times you see it is enough!
Or does it actually benefit me in some way?
Is there a way to shut this annoying feature OFF?

Of course it benefits you, it is letting you know the areas of your listing that you need to improve. The goal for each listing is 100% as then you comply with all of Googles guidelines usually, not always but most of the time. Each section of the listing gives you a percentage, the higher the percentage obviously better for the listing. I myself have many that are only at around 95% due to 1 less photo than they prefer. I cannot say for sure how it really affects us as there are so many variables when it comes to that, but, it is definitely there to help us. No, you cannot turn it off.

The listing total percentage shown is a good way to know if you have forgotten something or something is not check that you think is. If you now that normally you have 80% listings and the one you are working on comes in at 65% You know there is I problem somewhere. The listing percentage is good tool to have, Like a spell checker, You want to use it
