What is the secret to social media marketing?

I’ve literally promoted my listings for a full year to my 400 follower pinterest account and 1000 follower tumblr account and haven’t made a single sale from anybody what’s the rage in social media marketing? It doesn’t do any good! Has anybody actually have success in social media marketing by selling some stuff?

The social media can be a great way to advertise…I have pinterest, but do not use it as much as twitter or facebook. I do not know anything about tumblr.

I have gotten a few sales that I know of from facebook, because they contacted me through facebook. I have tweet Adder, which when done right sends out a few hundred tweets over the course of a day and this does bring lookers and sometimes sales.

Later if you decide to upgrade (which I would wait until things are going better) then you can add google analytics and you will see where your visitors are coming from

I see some of your items in google shopping, so I am assuming that you have the advertising activated.

SO NOW I am
Going to say a few things…hopefully to be helpful

I looked at your items and you have very little in the way of descriptions, very few details and your first and in some cases only line is "CAN SHIP QUICKLY 30 DAY MONEY BACK GUARANTEED "

That is considered boiler plate information by google and it can get your items kicked out of searches.

Google wants item descriptions.

The information sent to google about your items is usually the first 250 characters of your descriptions..use it to peak someone’s interest…If that sentence above is the only thing I see in search, why would I come to check out your item…it tells me nothing..about what you have for sale.

You should always have the name of your item, a description of your items (in your case..the platform for the games, a description of the type of game, (action, arcade, shooter, first person…), number of players, maker of the game (publisher)…and so forth

And MOST important
*[URL removed] New, unopened packaging
Used, very good, excellent..minor scratching that does not interfer with play

Is the game complete, original case, papers and such.

If people click on your games and there is really nothing there to tell them about the game, they will move on and not bother.

Also, adding more details will alleviate the possibilities of getting negatives on feedback…

You have items in your booth that my son would be interested in purchasing, but unfortunately I would never buy with out more information.

Good Luck

I mainly use Twitter/FB for all my advertising! These are the ones that my buyers respond to most. All tweets that are sent to Twitter automatically go to FB, Tumblr, and to a few other social places; but most of my traffic comes from Google because of how I do my tweeting. I’ve also paid attention to what is and is not accepted by Google and try to comply w/their rules by fixing what might be wrong. I still need to work on items but haven’t had the time to spend on it lately. I have worked at getting more Twitter followers over the last 2 years and have a HUGE amount of them now that retweet my tweets….which spreads the word out even further. It really works, but it does take time and effort! I occasionally pin to my boards, but don’t spend a lot of time on it since my buyers don’t come from there. Any one thing doesn’t work for everyone….you have to figure this out over time. Not to be mean, but 1400 followers is a mere drop in the bucket with all the millions on the net every day and night that could be potential followers! If you haven’t already gotten a start on Twitter, you really need one to start tweeting your items there. Be sure to connect it to FB too so they can show up there at the same time and save you time and effort. Just remember that the same item can’t be retweeted on Twitter for 12 hours at least w/out Twitter kicking it out…and possible you for rule infringement. And don’t post anything without waiting 2-4 min in between tweets so that you don’t appear as a scammer to Twitter. If you get a program to do your tweeting, make sure it is set up this way too.
