Vintage 188 page mass market paperback titled THE JIM THORPE STORY: AMERICA'S GREATEST ATHLETE by Gene Schoor / An Archway Paperback, ISBN # 0-671-29296-X, Sixth printing, April 1971/ An attraction for sports fans, this story of the Indian from Carlisle who was recently named All-time All American in a poll of sports columnists. To people of a generation too young to remember the glowing achievements of Jim Thorpe, the story of his career reads like fiction. In baseball, football, field and track, Thorpe established remarkable records, and his awards in the Olympic Games of 1912 -- later retracted because of one of the most famous scandals in sports history -- are still remembered by sports experts with awe. Primarily for the sports fan, this book brings up names and events which have become part of America's sports legends. Also included is an official ""record sheet"" of Thorpe's performances.
The book is complete and in GOOD - VERY GOOD condition with some overall wear that includes a blotted out name on the first page of the book. (see pictures)
