Orwell, George. ANIMAL FARM. New York: Harcourt, Brace and Company, 1946. 1st U.S. ed. (stated), 1st printing, black cloth hardcover w/gilt titling to spine only, 12mo 7.375 x 5?), Fine/Good+, 118pp.
Book is fine save being lightly, but appropriately, age-toned to the period. The dust-jacket is missing a .375x.500 chip from the head of the spine and a small amount of rubbing at the spine folds, edges, and corners with some light age-toning also. The $1.75 price is present on the jacket and there is no ?Printed in U.S.A.? on the jacket back flap. Tis indeed a 1st U.S. edition Animal Farm ? quite the distinctive tome indeed, and a marvelous Capture of Tyme.
