VAULT HOARD+COA+BOX This antique 1884-CC BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED MORGAN SILVER DOLLAR is from the vault hoard of Carson City Morgan Silver Dollars discovered in a Treasury audit. The silver in this historic dollar was mined from the rich Comstock Lode, discovered in the mountains near Carson City, Nevada. This coin was minted at the Carson City Mint, in 1884. Back in the day, when silver certificates used to be redeemable for silver dollars, the Treasury kept large quantities of silver dollars on hand. Between 1972 and 1974, most of the dollars were dispersed by the General Services Administration through a mail bid system. The coins that remained were sold in several final sales in 1980.
