Descripción del Artículo
1891-1914
One Plate stamped "LS S Saxony". The other plates are marked Germany.
LS S
8'' wide about 1'' tall
The Strauss family has a very interesting history.
The Strauss family moved to the U.S. state of Georgia in 1854. After losing everything in the American Civil War the family moved to New York City, where his father formed L. Straus Sons, a crockery and glassware firm.
I believe all of their pottery and glass was imported from Europe between 1891-1914. I think sold at Macys department store but I have read a couple different things. The family has a very interesting history worth reading about. The mark certainly dates it to be of a unique antique origin.
Very similar style to modern Polish Spongeware.
fine even crazing
I see one looks like bubble pop in glaze. no chips no cracks
thanks for looking
