Descripción del Artículo
This is a hardcover book, After The War by Alice Adams (2000). Alice Adams is considered to be one of the major American writers of the later 20th century. Her stories appeared in The New Yorker from 1969 to 1995, as well as in twenty-two O. Henry Awards collections and several volumes of Best American Short Stories. After the War, which begins where her acclaimed novel A Southern Exposure ended, is her eleventh and final novel, and it was published posthumously. The setting is a small Southern town (Pinehill) during World War II. The author's depiction of her native South is full, rich, and affectionate.
"Even after five years in Pinehill, Cynthia Baird is still considered a Yankee. And life has become more difficult since the beginning of the war. With Harry stationed in London, Cynthia finds life in a small town complicated not only be loneliness but also by a growing awareness of local racism and anti-Semitism. Their daughter Abigail is about to return north for college, and the two generations are forced to determine what they cherish and what they must leave behind."
Book is in excellent condition, doesn't appear to have been read at all. Really like new. Asking $4.00 obo. Everything I have listed for sale is "or best offer", so feel free to make an offer.
