Buxton, Samuel R., Compiler, THE ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT NEWS, Newport News: The Franklin Printing Company, 1900, 1908. 2 vols, oe leather/paper hardcovers w/thin leather spine labels titled in gilt, 8vo (9x5.75?), good/n.a., v.1 (1900), 283pp; v.2 (1908), 164pp. Bindings well-worn and w/ leather loss, loss to head of spine on vol.2, vol.2 also lacks a title page, (If it ever had one.), vol.1 has sporadic pencil marginalia. Vol. 1 is actually titled ?Charter and ordinances of Newport News Virginia,? with Vol.2 being titled ?Ordinances of Newport News Virginia?. Very early copies, Newport News was chartered in 1896 - just four years before vol.1 was published. This is the Only known copies of these works known on the open market. The ordinances therein are riveting and at the same time, humorous. Quite a distinctive, and informative duo, and yet another splendid Capture of Tyme!
