(internal #S1710-25) You are bidding on a specimen of a genuine fossil SQUALICORAX (also called CORAX, CROW or RAVEN) shark tooth. It has a unique HEART shape, making it a great romantic gift.
SMALL measures 7/8" long (measured from the bottom tip, along the longest side, to the top of the root).
Latin "squalo" means shark, Greek "corax" means raven. Species: Squalicorax pristodontus - an extinct species of Lamniform shark that lived during the Cretaceous period, 50-70 million years ago.
This shark was a coastal predator,but also scavenged other meat such as Hadrosid dinosaur, as a corax tooth was found embedded in a Hadrosid dinosaur foot bone. This shark grew to about 15 feet long. Its teeth were similar to the tiger shark, but without the classic notch in the tiger shark teeth.
