An English Lake District rural courtyard or farm yard is the subject of this nicely executed watercolour painting.
The artist has paid attention to the lighting effect on buildings and animals and has managed to capture this quintessential old England scene very well indeed.
The work is signed F. Hodgson, dated 1937 and verso is written Hawkshead, presumably the location of the subject matter.
This work is mounted, framed under glass and measures 42 x 52 cm
