This beautiful vintage chess set includes **16 genuine alabaster stone pieces**, all hand-carved in Volterra, Italy by the renowned firm of **Prof. G. Bessi**, a workshop celebrated for its fine alabaster artistry. The pieces are finished in rich shades of brown with natural veining, giving each one a unique character.
* Origin: Volterra, Italy
* Maker: Firm of Prof. G. Bessi (labeled on base)
* Material: Genuine alabaster stone
* Color: Brown (one side of a full chess set)
* Set includes: 1 King, 1 Queen, 2 Bishops, 2 Knights, 2 Rooks, 8 Pawns (16 pieces total)
* Size: King approx. 3.5" tall, Pawns approx. 2" tall
* Condition: Vintage, hand-carved with natural variations and light surface wear consistent with age
**Age Estimate:** Mid-20th century (1950s?1970s), when alabaster chess sets from Volterra were highly popular exports.
