Highly sought Fully Hallmarked Sterling Silver Bach Cooper Petrol Lighter. This is one of the most elusive lighters for serious collectors ! Offered is a very nice 1946-47 art deco solid sterling silver Bach Cooper roller petrol pocket lighter. The luxury birmingham england hallmarked roller mechanism lighter features an unusual slide side panel design with long roller flint mechanism. the narrow door on back side edge slides off to flint. the lighter was designed by arthur bach who later designed the slide Rollboy model which was also retailed by Alfred Dunhill and Asprey of London. Bach Cooper was an important silversmith in birmingham and made precious metal lighters for luxury stores. This narrow slide panel is similar to the B C rollboy model with larger slide panel. The lighter is hallmarked "X" for 1947 on the side as pictured. This is a high quality lighter equal to the solid silver dunhill models of the same period. The lighter measures about 1-3/4" tall x 1-1/4" wide and is in good used condition. The body has age tarnish and oily dirt spots that will easily clean with polish. There are some tiny dings on each side of the lighter that occurred with use and age. The lighter throws a good spark and works properly when filled with fuel. The fuel screw has been replaced with one tat is not silver. The Dunhill Rollboy was first introduced in 1948 and was manufactured by Bach Cooper of Birmingham and Worcester, England. This lighter was produced in 1947 according to the Birmingham Sterling Silver date mark with corresponding ?X? Hallmark.
