This is a VINTAGE COLLECTIBLE WOODEN DOCUMENT DECORATIVE BOX with A MAP ON TOP (#0508) The Box is very interesting. It is made mostly of wood except for the maps on the top and the metal rivets attaching the top. The top looks to be old world maps with ships in the lower right hand corner, Indians on the right top corner, warrior ships on the middle top, exotic animals on the upper left, ships on the lower left and Crusades? on the bottom middle. The map is in French and is attached by leather straps and metal rivets. The box is beautifully carved on all 4 sides. It is 8 inches wide, 4 inches high and 5 inches deep and weighs approximately 2 lbs. I don’t know the age or the purpose of the box, only that it was sold as an antique and because of its beauty would be a wonderful conversation piece. In excellent condition, no loose hinges or parts. (Please see pix for complete description)
