The figs are medium- sized and have a reddish-pink center with a violet exterior skin. It is similar to ‘Violette de Bordeaux,’ and this is one of the best figs for eating and making preserves. ‘Beer’s Black’ is self-fertile, and produces an early breba crop in the spring and then another crop in the fall.
