Descripción del Artículo

This is one of the effects of Dr. Louis Schwartz who was a Doctor for the United States Navy and a star athlete. He ran middle distance as a student, later won some amateur tennis tournaments first in the main draw then later as a senior. He participated several times in the Penn Relays. We don't have those trophies any longer but we do have a few of his others in our current inventory. This medal which has no ribbon was earned in 1906 while he was still in high school and bears markings of Sterling as well as the manufacturer Dieges Clust who have made some of the more important sports awards including for The Olympics and Major League Baseball. Enameled USAC logo which I think at that time might mean United States Athletic Club. There is light rubbing to a little of the enamel at the start of the "U" and to just a couple high points on the wreath at about 3/4 o'clock to bottom right. About 1 3/8" diameter. Inscription on the back reads: "300 Yard Run STERLING Dieges Clust 23 John St., N.Y." Triple threat historical collector's item. It is a souvenir of an American who did his country a lot of good in multiple ways, it is a rare early track medal, and it is from one of the firms most renowned in the association with major athletic awards. Mark my words someone is going to be very happy to own this.
