It forms a seal between the washer door and the tub, preventing water leaks during the wash cycle. This is a new OEM Samsung replacement part. Common Failures include: Wear and Tear: Continuous usage can lead to the rubber material of the diaphragm wearing down, which can result in water leakage. This is the most common failure Tears, Puncture or Holes: Sharp objects can catch on the door diaphragm and cause damage. If this happens, the diaphragm will no longer be able to properly seal the washer door and tub, leading to leaks. Mold and Mildew: If your washing machine isn't properly cleaned or sanitized monthly, or if it's often left damp, mold and mildew can build up on the door diaphragm. This can also cause a foul odor and potentially affect the cleanliness of your laundry.
