US ARMY 2nd ARMORED DIVISION "Hell On Wheels" Challenge Coin.
This is a great looking US ARMY 2nd ARMORED DIVISION "Hell On Wheels" commemorative challenge coin. Coin displays the 2nd Armored Div. logo on the front with a black background while the reverse side is a gold plated US Army Logo. Coin has reeded edges and is about 1 9/16" in diameter. All details are raised lettering and gold plated. Coin is contained in an snap tight coin holder.
The 2nd Armored Division ("Hell On Wheels") was an armored division of the United States Army. The division played an important role during World War II in the invasion of North Africa and Sicily and the liberation of France, Belgium, and the Netherlands and the invasion of Germany. During the cold war, the division was primarily based at Fort Hood, Texas, and had a reinforced brigade forward stationed in Garlsedt, West Germany. After participation in the Persian War, the division was inactivated in 1995.
