While he served as a professor at the Lycée Louis-Le-Grand, he partnered with Laurent Michard (1915-1984), a professor at the Lycée Henri-IV, to co-author the famous textbooks series known as "Collection Litteraire Lagarde et Michard". These textbooks presented works and comments by French writers in their temporal succession which served as the major basis for teaching French literature in French high schools into the 21st century. A rich illustration selection, sometimes in color, both pictorial and photographic (an innovation highly appreciated at the time) accompanies the texts. Text is in French. Also referred to as “standard.” This is the most likely condition for books of this age title, shows the book has been read or previously owned.
