Vintage Original 70's Color Photo Kirk and 16 similar items

Measures about 5" x 7" in Very Good condition with the beginnings of some light fold or crease marks but the image is not affected. Typical of photos carefully stored but not in an album. I got this only yesterday and it was brought into a militaria collection presumably by one of the service men in the photo or their family. This is only a guess of course. Apparently whomever decided to part with it agrees with me that it is right to pass it on to someone that might put it to good use. If in fact you are an author preparing some work or feature here is the chance to have something original to your effort. I estimate that it was taken in the 1970's based on the appearance of Douglas and the men in the photo. No clue as to where it was taken, and Navy people often end up in this area for the services or just because it was their last station while still in. If I had to bet a dollar in a pool though I would have to think West Coast likely San Diego as he served in the Pacific. If enough people see it then someone will recognize the room perhaps. Images shown here have a little paper strip to keep anyone else from using it before you can. I would presume this photo was taken by an official US Navy photographer so it might not be the only copy in existence. I didn't find it online though, or any reference to Douglas receiving an award in the 70's but anybody famous like that got all sorts of honorary degrees and testimonials. What is really stand out though is the perfect expression of appreciation and humility that Douglas has on his face and it didn't take prompts from any acting coach, it is genuine. Folders such as this were used for both award certificates and photos and chances are there was one of each in there. Douglas was a Lieutenant Jr. Grade on Submarine Chasers in 1943 and 1944 until injured and discharged. Likely he is getting a photo of such a patrol vessel and a certificate honoring his service.
