This item is an attractive and elegant elephant figurine jewelry box made of wood with a beautiful mahogany brown finish. It physically opens with interlocking wood pieces. In normal use, you lay the jewelry box on its side (the elephant is lying down on its right side). To open the jewelry box, you remove one interlocking piece and the top slides off to reveal the jewelry box cover and it velvety lining inside. The finish on the item is in good condition except as noted here. It has a beautiful brown finish. On the bottom side, there is also a faint outline of about 2 inches long of where adhesive tape was once used (do not know the reason). This is the side that lies face down so it is not normally shown and does not affect the look of this jewelry box.
