A. Santini Sculpture Alabaster Resin Elephant Figurine Figure Made In Italy. Piece stands 5” tall x 5.25” wide (nose to tail) x 3.5” deep (side to side). This piece is in lovely vintage pre-owned condition with no signs of damage. The original sticker makers mark is attached on the base. This is a nice heavy piece I with beautiful detail.
Artist History
A.SANTINI WAS BORN AMILCARE SANTINI IN 1910, IN THE CITY OF FLORENCE IN TUSCANY ITALY.AT THE AGE OF 12, HE BECAME AN APPRENTENCE TO THE SCULPTOR COLOMBINI. HE LATER ATTENDED UNIVERSITY IN FLORENCE. WHILE THERE HE CREATED A PROCESS OF BONDING CARRARA MARBLE AND ALABASTER. HE USED THIS MATERIAL TO CREATE HIS MASTER PIECES UNTIL HIS DEATH IN 1975. A.SANTINI CREATED BEAUTIFUL PIECES OF ART OF BONDED CARRARA MARBLE AND ALABASTER. FINISHED THEM BY HAND WITH REMARKABLE DETAIL. HIS PIECES HAVE AGED GRACEFULLY AND ATTAINED A LOVELY WARM PATINA REMINISCENT OF IVORY.THIS ELEPHANT I OFFER TO YOU IS RARE AND IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. IT IS A PRE-1960 SCULPTURE. HE HAS THE FINEST DETAILS AND CHARACTERISTICS. THE UNDER BELLY OF THIS ELEPHANT IS SIGNED A.SANTINI.
