1915-1929 Lyric Apothecary Bottle Druggist and 49 similar items

This is an antique Lyric apothecary prescription bottle likely dating between 1915 and 1929. The clear medicine bottle is embossed with lovely scroll work and graduated dosage markings on the sides to mark ounces and cc's. The marks increase from one to 5 (I believe the remaining space in the bottle indicates it is meant to hold 6 oz). The bottom is embossed with the Illinois glass "I in a diamond" mark along with "Lyric". Illinois Glass of Alton, IL used the Lyric brand and mark for prescription, drugstore bottles (also used by doctor's offices and apothecaries) between the dates referenced. The bottle is machine made, with side seam to the top of the lip. The vintage druggist bottle has a collared ring, suction mark, and cork top. (Cork is missing). My father, an avid bottle digger, found the vintage apothecary bottle more than 40 years ago in the ruins of an old home in Virginia. The old medicine bottle is in wonderful condition, free from breaks or cracks. There are air bubbles in the glass. Clarity is very nice for a dug bottle.
