Adams Ltd is a family business based in Sheffield England which has been making quality knives for six generations; they are the parent company for three other old established manufacturers F.E J.R.Hopkinson Ltd, established 14 June 1944, John Nowill Sons Ltd, whose corporate name was granted by the Cutlers Company of Hallamshire on 27 April 1700 A.D. and Austin McGillivray Co. The original Fairbairn Sykes knife was developed during World War II, when Wilkinson Sword collaborated with Capt. William E Fairbairn and Capt. Eric A Sykes to design a knife for the newly formed British Commando Force. Commonly known as the 'Commando Knife', this knife was arguably the most famous knife of the 20th century. 11 1/2" overall. 6 3/4" mirror finish carbon steel and Nickel plated dagger blade. Grooved Gold plated cast metal handle with Gold plated cross guard and pommel. Cross guard is stamped "J.NOWILL SONS SHEFFIELD ENGLAND" with military stamps on other side.
