As part of a clever marketing strategy to turn a regular container into a collectible glass, the company partnered with the Kagran Corporation, which owned the licensing rights to the popular children's television program, The Howdy Doody Show. The collaboration between Welch's and Kagran The Howdy Doody Show: Created and produced by Kagran Corporation, this show was one of the most popular children's television programs in the 1950s, so featuring its beloved characters on consumer goods was a powerful draw for kids. Welch's promotion: Welch's, a sponsor of the show, seized the opportunity to print colorful images of characters from the "Doodyville" puppet cast onto its 8-ounce glass jelly jars.
